So our internet connection hasn't been so reliable as of late. I mean, really, it's a quarter after one in the morning. I should be asleep, right? But the connection is good! I had to take advantage of that. So, anywho, here I am. I just wish I'd had the foresight to upload pictures from our camera so you could see more of Nathan's antics. I'll describe them briefly for you, as a preview. There are some of Nate and Jared dancing in the kitchen while Jared made breakfast (sweet!), there are some of Nathan playing basketball (sort of), there are some of Nathan behind the couch, Nate making faces, etc. etc. Really, you guys all know what he looks like, so you can just imagine him doing those things until I finally get some more pictures up. Hopefully soon. If it's not soon, it's because the internet isn't working again and/or I'm too chicken to pay my late fee at the library and by so doing gain access to the internet there. Anywho.
Nathan's vocabulary is growing... somewhat. He's used the word "mine" a couple of times now. At first we were wondering where the heck he learned that word until we realized it was probably the evil (ha) influence of nursery. Oh well, it was bound to happen. The first time he said it I was doing something with a bunch of binders and the computer and he wanted to join me. Jared tried to grab him away from these items and Nathan exclaimed "mine!". I was amused, but tried not to laugh. The second time, he was pressing buttons on the DVD player (although it wasn't even plugged in, so I don't know what kind of satisfaction he was getting from it) and I asked him what he was doing. He replied, "mine!" I was surprised, and tried to keep the laughter out of my voice when I told him it actually wasn't his because he did not purchase it. He wasn't listening. He just kept pressing buttons in a determined sort of way. Why is it so funny when he misbehaves??
It's not so funny when he throws a tantrum when I ask him to kiss me. He is nearing the "terrible twos" I guess. I mean, how difficult is it to peck your mother on the lips? Maybe there's something deeper I'm just not seeing, but I don't think so. I mean, he's only 19 months old.
Barb, his grandma, loves hanging around him. And he loves getting into her stuff. And throwing things. And breaking things (well, that not so often, fortunately).
Anyway, on other news, Jared's trip to Seattle and Vancouver (Canada, not WA) went well. He's probably going to go back to at least Vancouver in the end of March.
Jared and I also organized our closet Sunday night. Very exciting. Organization sort of gives me this unhealthy thrill. I keep going in there just to look at the closet. Draw what conclusions you may. =)
Things are pretty much just normal around here. It's gotten warmer the past couple of days and you can actually see the dead-looking grass that was hiding under the snow for so long. They say it's going to rain/snow again later this week, but I know it will have to end eventually. I hope the spring is long. I can only hope, though. Jared's been working and just received a new calling... I'll let you guys know what it is when it's official. Barb and I have been reading a lot (mom - she likes the Maisie Dobbs series! huzzah!) and she's also been doing crossword puzzles and helping me a TON with things around the house and with Nathan. I don't think I deserve it, but I'm not going to say no! I've also acquired a couple of slightly embarrassing (and sort of related) new hobbies. Maybe hobby isn't the right word. Whatever. I'm not going to tell you about it, regardless. Not that you were even curious.
Anyway, we're excited about Aubrie and can't wait to hear where she's going! (She put in her papers, or is going to, but I think all of you already knew)
And, on my dad's birthday (March 19th), we're going to find out if the baby that's been making me crave hard-boiled eggs and deviled eggs is a boy or a girl. Most people seem to be convinced it's a girl. We'll see...!
Well, I think I've squeezed every possible bit of information that could be construed as "news" into this new blog, so I'm thinking I'm done. Plus, I'm really tired. It's almost 2 am now (although I think Barb is still up, hehe, I'm not the only one). G'night!
