Yeesh I'm kind of a horrible blogger. I try not to see it as a reflection of how I am as a mother, since I do take pictures and I do write down notes/quotes/anecdotes (except only recently have I started dating those notes...)
Anyway, I neglected to take more than a few pictures on her actual birthday (and they're on my ipad, honestly I blame that thing for messing up my blogging, since I can't use blogger on the ipad without dumping the pictures, one and all, at the very end of the post with no rhyme or reason). But! You've seen her eat some cake. It pretty much looks like any other baby eating cake (i.e. incredibly adorable, in my humble opinion).
This year with Maya has gone so quickly. Seriously, so, so quickly. I can remember pretty clearly the day she was born, and how I felt, and how she looked with her funny lips and puffy eyelids. I remember how she kept crying at first, and I felt sort of overwhelmed, since that had never happened to me with the other kids. But I just made a bunch of noise and bounced her a little and as long as I kept doing that she was fine. It felt strange to give her away to be washed and so they could take me out of the delivery room. I felt like I was passing the buck. Anyway, I won't go on, the details are all here (not that you want to reread that novel... if you've even read it - and I wouldn't blame you if you hadn't!).
So... since you're not supposed to compare your children for any reason ever, let's compare my kids.
Nathan is always first, Rylie second, and Maya third.
Newborns:
4 months:
7 months:
1 year:
There are a few things I think we can learn from these pictures.
1) Newborns are sleepy.
2) My kids make some pretty funny faces.
3) For being supposedly underweight (except Maya, honestly, she was never underweight) my kids are pretty chubby. I mean look at Nathan as a premie, he was practically obese!
4) We're pretty blessed. These kids keep it interesting, that's for sure. (That's two separate things. Whatever.)
5) I remember now why I don't blog very often. Pictures take for-ev-er to load. Seriously. Like 50 hours. It took me, what... 3 minutes to write everything? I don't have 50 hours and 3 minutes to blog every day. Or every week. I suppose if I were more wordy and didn't care about pictures, that would be fine. But the kids are young and the grandparents need visuals and... Hm, victuals. I'm hungry. Bye!
