fail
Shannon and I tried to drive out to northern California for our Grandma Wood's memorial service this weekend. We ended up having car trouble so we had to get towed back to Sandy where Jared picked us up, so that didn't happen. We were pretty bummed. We made it as far as the Bonneville Salt Flats, though, so we took a few pictures.

London: Day Three (May 1st)
I'm super behind... how very normal of me. Here's a picture of mom in our flat:So on last Saturday we went to the British Museum (which was really cool)and St. Paul's Cathedral (which was also really cool, and so were the views from the top!),but most of my pictures from that day got deleted somehow. Probably for the best... I'm pretty sure my sisters and my mom took tons of pictures of mostly the same things. So kinda sad = shorter post.

London: Day Two (tons of pictures!)
Okay. Day Two. Firstly, here's where we're staying. We're the windows on the right but the building has like 4 to 6 flats in it, I think.Yesterday was long and we're still not over the soreness yet. It always gets worse but then it gets better, right? Right??
First we went out to Portobello Market in Notting Hill. It was really cool, minus one guy who we have now sort of nicknamed, "the height of rudeness" because that's sort of his catch phrase. You know, like with Pokemon how Pikachu always says, "pikachu". Anyway he went on and on and on about how Adrien shouldn't have been taking pictures of his books (which were lovely, btw, but sort of seemed less lovely after he went off on her) and fortunately she elected not to stay for part of it. Then I just decided to ask him how much the book I was holding was (a pretty nice looking edition of 2 of my favorite plays by Shakespeare from around 1870) even though I knew I couldn't possibly afford it but I was just trying to change the subject. He then said it was 50 pounds and showed me the date as the reason why and went on to inform me there were cheaper books. Yes, yes there are. So yeah, other than that I liked Portobello Road. One of the pictures below is All Saints, a clothing store (I gather) that was lined with hundreds if not thousands of old sewing machines. I thought it looked pretty cool. After that we went to St. Martin-in-the-Fields and ate lunch in their crypt cafe. It was pretty good. Sort of odd to be eating where people were buried, but the architecture was great. Then we walked over to Trafalgar Square which is right in front of the church. The lions are bigger than they look.Oh also we finally saw the Big Ben clock tower for the first time from the square! So then we walked down the street to the Houses of Parliament and checked out Westminster Bridge. We even saw the window where Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes jumped out and dived into the Thames.
Then we had to get hot chocolate because it was cold. After that we took the tube over to Covent Garden and walked around there for a while. We also saw where Jane Austen stayed for a short period with her brother. When we finished there, we went all the way up to Camden Town and walked around there.Very fun. =) We got crepes from this guy:Mom and I walked around Camden Lock a little bit after Shannon and Adrien went home early (they were really tired). We didn't get to go to the gig we'd bought tickets for, unfortunately, because Melic wasn't performing till a quarter to ten and we told Adrien and Shannon we'd be home by 11:30. Mom and I went to the National Gallery till it closed at 9, though, and I got a pretty cool picture to end the day.
