A Typical Sunday... (long picture post)

This is a fairly typical Sunday for us (Except for Rylie sleeping in our bed... I've had a cold so I was super-tired that morning. Too tired to put Rylie back to bed.):And then Shannon and Adrien came over later and we played Clue and Apples to Apples. Shannon said I always take pictures of her in the rocking chair and she thinks she looks like a convalescent. Adrien says I always take pictures of her when she has 12 chins and weighs a thousand pounds. I say: totes ridic.Oh, and here's a video of Rylie. I wish my camera recorded sound... but it doesn't. Sorry!

St. Patrick's Eve

Every year for St. Patrick's Day my family's and my (especially my) dorkiness multiplies by about 200%. We make the whole corned beef and cabbage thing and listen to The Chieftains and use accents better left unused and dance around the kitchen. Last year I decided we should have trifle for dessert every time since we have more English ancestry than Irish. This year we also played charades with a bunch of scenarios Shannon and I came up with, but unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of that. Oh, and the reason the title is St. Patrick's Eve is because there were a few scheduling conflicts this year so we got together on Monday instead of Tuesday. Anyway, here are the pictures and a video of me dancing. Adrien and Shannon have videos of us dancing with sound, so you'll have to pester them if you really want to see that spectacle.

I made the corned beef in two crock pots (instead of the traditional boiling on the stove for a few hours) this year. I think Jared may have actually liked it this time!Shannon came over earlier in the day to help me bake the sponge cake and put together the trifle. Yum.Ericward?Nathan (watching Elmo) and Rylie wore the traditional green, and Jared wore the even more traditional blue.More:And of course, me, with no sense of rhythm or of anything, really. Oh, and sorry the video is sideways.

Rylie

Here are some updates on Rylie! She's started eating rice cereal. She still doesn't eat very much of it. Maybe if she would eat more, she'd sleep through the night, but I don't know. She's got about 6 teeth (four on bottom, 2 on top). I keep thinking a 7th is going to come in, but it hasn't yet.She rolls over sometimes, but doesn't care enough (or something) to do it very often, and she usually rolls onto her stomach and then forgets that she knows how to get back so she starts crying for help.
She can also kind of sit up. But not for more than a couple of seconds without support. And she's still cute.

Nate the Great

Jared has lots of nicknames for Nathan. He's been making them up since before Nathan was born. Nathan's finally starting to notice, and, as with everything else, he's asserting his independence. That or he actually thinks Jared doesn't know his name. I don't know.

It goes something like this:

Jared: "Hey Hoos Foos!"

Nathan: "No! Nathan!"

Jared: "Hey Charlie Hosbosbit!"

Nathan: "Noooo!"

Jared: "Gishstompski?"

Nathan: "Noo! Nathan!"

Jared: "Oh, you're Mundungus."

Nathan: "No! Nate the Great!"

Out of all the dozens of nicknames, that's the one Nathan figured the name "Nathan" was short for. For those of you that know Jared, this means he's definitely his father's son.

before it snowed again...

We went to the park the other day. There are only a couple of pictures cause my camera died right when I tried to take a picture of Nathan being too freaked out to come down the slide. Serves me right for being an insensitive mother.

the world according to Nathan...

p.s. Plus the magnets spelling out "punch me in the face" kinda makes me laugh. I'm juvenile like that.
