big snow

I know it snowed some before this fall/winter, but this is a lot more snow and it's sticking now! So here's some pictures from this morning.
After we went back inside, Nathan got back to business.Oh, and a couple of hours ago, it was already this white outside:
And here's a couple pictures of Rylie from today, so she won't feel left out:

p.s. The house on the header is Tom and Beth's. I thought it looked really Christmas-y with all the snow. Hope you guys don't mind me using it for the holiday season! If you do, let me know and I can change the picture. I just need to scan in this picture we have and I can use that instead, if you like.
p.s.s. Does anyone know how to move the title of the blog to the bottom of the picture so it's easier to read??

Family Home Evening

Last Monday we made puppy chow (muddy buddies to some of you) for Family Home Evening. Nathan loved being able to help make it.Rylie watched. She's good at that. =)

I told you something was up...

So remember when I showed you how Elmo was creepy?

I think I caught him coming out of his secret lair.

The other day...

I was labeling pictures for a Facebook album and I didn't know how to spell Camryn's name. So I decided to ask Jared. He was asleep but I figured he'd been trying to wake up for about an hour so he wouldn't mind if I woke him. This is what happened:

Megan: Hey are you going to be awake for real now?

Jared: (mumbled groaning)

Megan: How do you spell Camryn?

Jared: It's C-A-M-E-R-Y-N.

Megan: C-A-M-E-R-Y-N? Are you sure?

Jared: Yes. It's C-A-M-E-R-Y-N.

Megan: Are you awake?

Jared: Honey, it's round! It goes all the way around.

Megan: What??

Jared: It's S-O-N. Not S-E-N.

Megan: Um... I don't think you're awake.

Jared: Never mind. (sleepy chuckling)

Anyway, he doesn't remember this. He remembers me asking how to spell Camryn's name and that's about it. Funny guy.

hello earth

Ok now I have that Kate Bush song in my head.

I decided to let you guys know that we're not dead. Not that anyone reading this thought we were. I'm just saying. We bought a new computer, so we'll be able to load all the pictures up and everything... I just have to figure out if Jared did that or not. Tomorrow. Or rather, later today. Anyway, Jared built the computer so he's quite proud of himself, and rightfully so, I think. It's pretty cool. =) Plus it saved us a couple hundred bucks. He said it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be, but it all seems like the same amount of difficult to me.

Our 4th anniversary was on the 20th. We didn't really do anything, although Jared made another kind of chocolate cheesecake (which we haven't tried yet; Adrien and Eric did when they watched our kids this evening but I forgot to ask them how it was). He also gave me flowers, one of my favorite kind of candy bars, and two tickets to see Twilight. The cheater had me agree that we weren't getting each other anything so he just got a card from me. But yep! He went with me to see Twilight! He said it was alright. I liked it. There were some cheesy/uncomfortable moments, but I think they got it mostly right, especially considering their small budget. I'd see it in theatres again. I'll probably buy the DVD. I haven't decided if I'm just getting the 2 disc one or the 3 disc one. But... yeah... I have plenty of time.

Nathan and Rylie are doing well. Rylie won't take a bottle anymore, not even with breast milk in it. So there's a chance she might be coming with Jared and me to Playa del Carmen in January. What?? We're going to the Mexican Riviera in January??

To be continued...

p.s. Adrien is reading Twilight. Ha!

Anyway, I sort of promise to update properly (with pictures and everything) this weekend. However, I did finally get through my 250 emails yesterday and that might be enough of an accomplishment to carry me guilt-free for another week or so. I'll try harder if I feel a sense of impatience from any of you.

Rylie has her first cold. =(

I promise to write a real blog soon. Lots of pictures from our trip coming!!

I think my brain is regressing.

Is it just me or is this really funny?? Yeah... it's probably just me. At least I can say I've overcome one of my irrational fears. The count is no longer on my list of frightening things. lol.

mmmm... scrumptious.

I wanted to show you the chocolate lava cakes Jared made so you can be jealous. Also, a few more pictures of Rylie. You can decide which looks more scrumptious. Just kidding, I'm not one of those people who acts like young children are food. That's just freaky.

Another picture blog...

So Nathan, Rylie and I went up Provo Canyon the other day. We drove up to Sundance, and even though it was a little hazy, it was beautiful. That's what the blog heading picture is from. Anyway, after we drove a little of the Alpine Loop, we went back down to Bridal Veil Falls. Nathan enjoyed throwing rocks in the water. I was surprised he actually got in - that water is pretty cold! I guess the key was to let him go at his own pace. Anyway, it was a beautiful day. I complain about Utah being ugly and brown most of the year, but it's usually not true when you go up into the mountains. Oh, and sorry the camera isn't the greatest. Some of the pictures are blurry and I can't usually catch Nathan smiling (or Rylie, for that matter). That's all. Enjoy!

Elmo is creepy.

When I came downstairs the other morning, I realized something. Elmo is creepy. I mean, I knew that before, but now I'm utterly convinced he's a lot more sinister than he lets on. What kind of creature has eyes on top of its head? The predatory kind, that's what.
I rest my case.

I can't find the cord to upload my photos...

Yeah, I can't find the cord to put more photos on the computer. And I have lots, since we (minus Jared) went up the canyon the other day! Lame. Until then, I wanted to tell you about Nathan's new trick. No, he doesn't turn into a cat (but that would be so cool!). We've been painting his room (it's all done except for the baseboards and doors) so he's had to sleep in his pack n' play out in the loft area. Unfortunately, he's figured out how to climb out of it. Not surprising... yet no less irritating. I keep having to go up there and put him back in. I can't wait till his room is done. At least he stays in his room (usually) when we put him in there, if not in bed.

I just wish I could show you the facial expression he gets when I catch him out of bed. He gets this nervous grin and then quickly runs away while a choked giggle escapes his throat. I want to laugh but I think that would seriously undermine my own authority. I want to be intimidating, not a partner-in-crime. So I work my hardest to keep a straight face until I'm out of sight, and then I try to keep my giggles as quiet as possible. I would try and sneak a picture, but if laughing would undermine my authority, I'm pretty sure taking a picture would make it nonexistent.

Who's the author of this fow ounchinchin?

The title of this blog is sort of in reference to my mom's blog (I don't know what she was quoting) but with Nathan's version of "foul outrage".

Yes. I teach my son to say things like "fat chance" and "foul outrage".

Anyway... in reality, this post is dedicated to food. I took some pictures of Jared making Hoosier Chili so you could pretend to be a part of the magic.

First... he cooked the hamburger meat and boiled the spaghetti noodles. He added some kidney beans...then some spicy taco seasoning (and we told Nathan to stop turning the lights on and off)......then he stirred it up (I caught Jared singing "New Soul" because I had just watched Tyler and Carmen's video and it got stuck in his head. He made up his own lyrics but I can't remember what they were. They were probably about how great a husband he is or Nathan being a tater tot.)Mmmm...
After draining the noodles, he put it all together and added tomato juice. I know it looks kinda weird, but it is tasty. Then he stirred it some more and he was done! Although I may have missed a couple steps/ingredients.After that we ate it. Yum. Nathan had something else, but he did enjoy dipping a few saltines into our chili. I didn't get pictures of that, but here are pictures of Nathan and Rylie hanging out with us that evening.Oh, and a picture of me in my yellow shirt, since Adrien was complaining that she hadn't seen me in it yet. Except it's mostly a picture of Rylie sleeping.
