1st Birthday

Happy Birthday Rylie Isabel Swinford!A few more pictures here.

Lunch

In his continuing quest for independence, Nathan decided to try and get his own lunch the other day: sauteed fruity pebbles.

Pool

We've started going to the pool once a week... it is SO hot these days, and if we went to the air-conditioned mall I'd probably buy the kids clothes because they "need" them... $4 is better than going on a shopping spree, I guess. Plus the kids love the water.

murder most foul

Nathan tried to kill the blackberry jam jar the other day.p.s. for the record, my mom posted a video of Nathan reading Corduroy.
p.s.s. the new header pic cracks Jared up. that's why I changed it... if you were even interested.

the premiere...

I met my sisters, Adrien and Shannon, and my brother, Ian, for the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince midnight showing. It was awesome. We had fun. This is what we had on the front of our shirts:

Sunday afternoon

The kids were playing together on Sunday after church. They got along fairly well and then Nathan decided it was time to go.

Independence Day

We had a pretty good 4th of July. Nathan and I were still kinda sick, and Rylie couldn't take the heat outside, but before the kids went to bed we used pop-its (or whatever they're called) and sparklers. Nathan was a big fan or the pop-its and a little nervous of the sparklers. I thoroughly enjoyed both, never having used them before. =)

the backyard

Here are some pictures of our backyard and the progress we've made with it. Before, after and in between...Jared worked so hard! He tilled the yard, put in a sprinkler system, we had to wait a while because of job changes and that kind of thing, then he tilled it again, helped a couple of guys we know with the patio (those guys were awesome, btw, for doing us this favor!!), went and got three truckloads of dirt, transported it all to the back with a wheelbarrow, shoveled it and raked it out, and laid the sod. This was over the course of weeks (and months)! Good job Jared! Thanks for working so hard to get our yard looking nice!
Anyway, he's very pleased with it. We're not done, ideally we'd love to get a few trees, lots of flowers, and have vegetables and berry vines. (We were even talking about a pergola. But probably not here, maybe in our next house.) Anyway, since it's July we're not going to do all of that planting this year. At least now (or in about a month, anyway) there's a place for the kids to run around and the patio's big enough to put the kiddie pool on it. Yay!

Softball Men's League

Jared had one of his tournament games last Wednesday. The men's league team he's been in was undefeated so they got bumped up to the upper division. Unfortunately they didn't win, but I think they still had fun. It's double elimination, so they've got at least one more game left. Nathan liked seeing his daddy hit the ball. The last picture shows how stained Jared's shirt has gotten from his sliding so much. =)

worth it

We got Nathan an alarm clock from DI. He loves it. The sound isn't very pleasant after hearing it 15 times in a row, but I like to think he's learning. And I can teach him how to tell time with it, since we have no clocks in our house (we use cell phones, microwave/oven, or the computer to tell time).

we forgot...

Exactly a week ago, Jared and I got dressed, got a baby-sitter (my mom) and went to the temple. We got there a little later than we meant to but I thought to myself, "Come hell or high water, we are going!!"
And then we got there.
And it was closed.
We forgot it was closed for 2 weeks for cleaning. We didn't have time to go up to the Timpanogos temple since I had to be back in time to feed Rylie so we decided to hang out there and just talk for a while. We took a few pictures, too.p.s. In the last one, Jared's pointing to the part of the mountain where we got engaged.

Merrye Olde England (catch-up poft)

So a little over a week ago my mom, Adrien, Nathan, Rylie and I went up to SLC to get some yummy food from Elizabeth's English Tea Shop and Bakery (where we tried to go before without realizing it wasn't open). Holy cow that's a lot of links in one sentence...
Anyway. It was yummy. Then we went over to their market and looked at all the (expensive but cool) stuff! Outside there was a mini cooper and a British (Londonish?) post box in the design invented by Anthony Trollope (I think??).
